Types of Log Cabins
There are many different types of garden cabin for you to choose from, with some crossover where a building can come under multiple categories. We have prefabricated log cabins in both modern and more classical styles, to match any type of garden.
Log Cabin Summer House
Log cabins with large windows can be used as summerhouses. The traditional use of a log cabin summerhouse is to relax with a good view of the garden, perhaps with some food and drink, sheltered and away from any wind. Throw open the doors to embrace the heat of a warm day, or retreat with the doors closed to enjoy the garden in comfort if the weather turns. Check out our range of log cabin summer houses.
Log Cabin Shed
If storage is what you’re looking for, a log cabin shed might be the right choice. Rather than a basic shed, these buildings retain the attractive looks, sturdiness and warmth of a log cabin. Many of them also offer enough space to be used as workshops for your DIY projects. Browse our log cabin sheds range.
Corner Log Cabins
If you’re thinking about putting your log cabin in the corner of your garden, these are the models for you. Tucking neatly into the corner to save space, some of these buildings present wide, diagonally-facing entrances, while others allow you to choose which side the doors and windows will be on. Too see if these are right for you, browse our range of corner log cabins.
Log Cabin Office
Working from home? How about working from the garden? More and more people are finding it useful to take their work out of the house and into a garden cabin to improve their focus. This is also perfect for people who are running their own business or meeting customers, maintaining privacy outside the main house, making it the perfect investment for a working professional.
Log cabins also make excellent photography studios, hair salons, or pet shelters. Or you could use it for more leisurely purposes, like a gaming room or a garden gym. The possibilities are endless.

Insulated Log Cabins
The naturally insulating qualities of wood make our log cabins already some of the warmest garden buildings on the market. However, if you are planning to use your garden cabin all year round, you will want it to be fully insulated, which will make it nearly as warm as your house. Browse our range of insulated garden rooms.
If an insulated garden cabin is too much, you can also achieve extra warmth by selecting a thicker timber cladding in the options on the product page. We offer thicknesses of 11mm, 28mm and 44mm. For the warmest options, browse for a 44mm log cabin.
Log cabin playhouses for kids
Some of our outdoor play houses come with a log cabin style of build. Treat your children to the cosiest type of playhouse, available in both classic Wendy house and modern styles.
Treating your log cabin
All log cabins require a preservative treatment in order to protect the timber from the weather and to be eligible for our guarantee. To make this more convenient, most of our log cabins are available to be purchased with pre-applied pressure treatment - look at our range of treated log cabins to see the selection.
Pressure treatment is much longer lasting, giving you many years without needing to worry about maintenance and extending the BillyOh Guarantee to 15 years. For more information on how this works, read all about pressure treatment.
Without pressure treatment, you will need to paint your cabin with preservative annually (we recommend during warmer seasons, in time for autumn).
Log cabin sizes
A small log cabin can be a compact 8 by 8 feet, which can be plenty if it is being used as an office or a summerhouse for a small number of people. Log cabin sheds can be even smaller than this if needed. At the larger end, log cabins are available up to 16 by 14 feet, which equates to around 20 square metres.
One of the most popular sizes is a 10x8 log cabin, which provides ample space for all manner of uses, from storage to a gym, without breaking the bank.
