6x3ft Sheds
A 6x3 garden shed provides perfect storage for gardens and outdoor spaces that are limited in space - or in situations where you only need a little bit of room. These small sheds are designed to store a small number of items, like tools or planting and DIY materials, and aren’t equipped for numerous big or bulky pieces of equipment like bikes.
Both our 3x6ft and 6x3ft sheds are available in a choice of well-known materials including wooden, plastic, and metal units. Each type offers distinct benefits and budget ranges. Simply put, this means you’ll be easily able to find a shed that’s right for your needs and circumstances.

Usually, no. Most UK properties are allowed sheds as 'permitted developments' with no planning permission required.
Exceptions (where you MIGHT need planning permission) include:
- Listed properties and locations of 'outstanding natural beauty
- Structures exceeding 2.5 metres height on the eaves (our sheds don't exceed this)
- Sheds placed in the front garden
- Sheds exceeding more than 50% of the garden space
There are some other rules, so check out our guide to planning permission for sheds to get a full understanding.
Since 2020, we no longer have a physical showroom and all trade is conducted online. Our website shows previews of every size of building with precise measurements to make it easy for you to make an informed buying decision.
When you visit a product page, changing between sizes will immediately show you what the exact size looks like.
Each shed material has its own pros and cons and your decision should be based on how you intend to use the building.
Wooden sheds
Wooden sheds are the most popular type of shed, and for good reason.
- Pros:
- They look great and can be painted and customised
- They are very durable against wind and rain.
- Wood is naturally insulating against heat and cold.
- Cons:
- They are flammable. Not ideal for welding or other blowtorch work.
- They require regular maintenance, including treatment to prevent rot and insect infestation.
There are multiple styles of wooden garden shed available, including log cabin sheds. All our BillyOh wooden sheds are manufactured at our purpose-built site in the UK and come with a 10-year guarantee as standard.
Plastic sheds
Don’t underestimate the practical benefits of a plastic shed. They can serve you well for both storage and workshop uses.
- Pros:
- Plastic sheds are relatively inexpensive.
- Low maintenance and long lasting.
- Quality models offer solid durability.
- Not flammable.
- Cons:
- Difficult to customise without damage.
- Can’t be painted.
- Colour might fade with time.
Metal sheds
For a low cost, low maintenance garden building, look no further than a galvanised metal shed.
- Pros:
- Metal sheds are cheaper than wood and plastic sheds.
- They can be painted with specialist metal paint.
- Not much maintenance to do.
- Galvanised models are resistant to rust as long as the coating stays intact.
- Cons:
- Can be difficult to customise with add-ons.
- Metal sheds become hot in the summer.
- At less than 1mm thick, they can dent with impact.
We deliver sheds for free to most of the UK. Check our delivery page for full details.
Unfortunately we are unable to offer an installation service. However, our wooden shed kits are designed to be easy to assemble with basic DIY tools. Metal and plastic sheds are even easier to put together, with only screws required.
If you require professional installation, we encourage hiring a local specialist. It is best to wait until you have a delivery date before booking this.
When we say a 'base', we mean a surface that is:
- Flat (check with a spirit level)
- Solid (bricks, slabs or concrete. NOT soil, grass or gravel)
- With drainage (it doesn't have to be raised, but rainwater has to be able to leave the area.)
It is important that a shed stands in a location where it will be able to easily remain upright without undue stress on the structure, and where it won't be absorbing water. Our wooden sheds all come with pressure treated floor bearers which raise the floor slightly above the ground, so you can place yours straight onto a level patio or decking without issue.
If your designated shed location is currently soft, you could level this out and use our Ecobase product to save you the work of landscaping.
The size of your shed depends on how you plan to use it. Whether you need space for tools, a workshop, or even a garden office, we offer sheds in a range of sizes to fit your space. Use our shed size guide to find the perfect match for your garden.
All our sheds are designed to withstand the UK weather, with durable roof and wall materials to protect your items from rain, snow, and wind. From treated wood to rust-resistant metal, your shed will last for years to come.
With wooden sheds, it is important to ensure that the roof felt is securely fitted without gaps.

When is a 6 x 3 Shed the Right Choice?
A small shed of this size is right for people with not much to store or only a small amount of space available. If you only need a place to keep tools, rakes, spades or plant pots, a small storage space like these 6x3 sheds can work well and only have a small footprint. They’re especially ideal for fitting down alleyways.
It’s not the right choice if you need to keep lots of items safe. If you’ve only got a few bulky items, such as a bike or lawnmower, these can be accommodated - but they’ll limit the way you can use the shed when doing so and may make it hard to access the rest of the shed.
