Are Your Wooden Sheds Self-Manufactured?
Yes, every wooden shed in our range has been manufactured by us in our specialist facility. We don’t just manufacture them, we also design them ourselves using our own in-house design team, and deliver them through our own distribution network.
We’ve created a dedicated 800,000 square foot facility for creating our wooden buildings, including these sheds, with every panel of wooden cladding cut using precise and efficient machinery. Not everything can be done by machine, however, and that’s where our dedicated craftsmen come in - crafting unique parts and fixtures.
What’s the Advantage Of Buying A Self-Manufactured Building?
There are a couple of benefits to buying a self-manufactured product from us. First, you can be sure that the building has come from a reputable supplier with experience creating wooden garden buildings. Similarly, you can buy in confidence that it is a product that has been created in the UK rather than being shipped in from overseas.
The other benefit is in the price of our buildings. Because we handle all elements of the process ourself, there are no additional costs that need to be factored in, resulting in a fairer and more affordable price for our customers.
How Can I Use a Wooden Shed?
Simply put, you can use a wooden shed in whichever way fits you! The versatile nature of these traditional sheds means that they can be used for a huge variety of purposes, with just a small amount of tinkering needed to create a shed that can house your ideas.
However, it is worth noting that they perform some functions better than others. Storage is one thing timber sheds do really well, providing a protected interior which can be equipped to store your possessions. Whether it’s your set of tools, garden equipment like a lawn mower or strimmer, or even your dormant garden furniture, there’s a right-sized shed for what you have in mind.
Garden sheds are equally well suited for a workshop or hobby space. Whether you need a space to really let your woodworking craft free, somewhere peaceful to paint, or want to provide a dedicated home to your treasured collection, there’s no better place than the haven of a shed. Adding insulation can help to expand the usability of the building - we have a guide exploring how to insulate a shed with more information.

What Types of Wooden Cladding are Available?
Overlap Cladding
The cheapest form of cladding available, overlap boards create extremely cost-effective sheds. Overlap boards simply overlap each other, with the bottom of one panel overlapping with the top of the panel beneath it. Nails are used to join these panels together. This creates a “complete” exterior, although the seal of the walls is dependent on how well fastened the panels are.
The boards do not need to be specially manufactured, they just need to be cut to size, which makes them cheaper than other forms of cladding and overlap sheds the cheapest type of shed. Our Keeper, Switch Overlap, and Super Saver lines all use overlap cladding to create reliable-yet-cheap shed buildings.
Tongue and Groove Cladding
While tongue and groove cladding is more expensive, the unique interlocking design provides a few advantages over cheaper cladding types. Tongue and groove boards interlock at the top and bottom, with a top tongue that fits into the corresponding groove of the panel above. This creates a tight sealed wall, a smooth exterior, and even adds an element of structural strength to the walls - with the interlocking boards able to bear some weight.
Our Master, Switch Tongue and Groove, and Expert ranges all use tongue and groove cladding. While the cladding design is more expensive, their improved looks and seal make these tongue and groove sheds an extremely cost-effective option.
Log Cladding
The most expensive form of cladding, log cladding is typically much thicker than its counterparts. Locking into each other with a tongue and groove, and locking into the adjoining panels at the corners - ensuring a complete surround seal on all walls - they ensure your building is fully robust. The thicker size of the panels also reduces heat transfer, which adds a natural layer of insulation and soundproofing.
While log boards are the most expensive form of cladding, they also provide strength and reliability without equal. All our log cabin sheds use these premium boards.
What is Pressure Treatment?
Pressure treatment is a chemical process that improves the longevity and durability of timber. During treatment, chemical preservatives are forcefully injected into the timber. These preservatives enable the wood to stay stronger for longer by protecting it from rot, insects and fungal decay. We offer pressure treatment on a number of our sheds, providing buildings that last longer and provide you with peace of mind.
Do You Provide a Protective Guarantee?
We offer a 10-year protective degree on all of our tongue-and-groove sheds, providing you confidence that your garden shed will be there to stay. This guarantee protects your shed against rot, decay, and insect infestation, three major causes of long-term damage to sheds.
If you opt to have your shed pressure treated, we extend the length of the guarantee up to 15 years.
You can take additional measures to improve the longevity of your building, including damp-proofing it. If you're interested in knowing what you can get from your building, we recommend reading our blog post on how long wooden sheds last.
