Log Cabin Sheds
A Log Cabin Shed provides extremely robust storage while retaining the attractive timbered design of a traditional shed. They’re ideal if you’re looking for heavy-duty storage or a larger building with thicker cladding, with their distinctive log-lap cladding providing an external shell that is more robust than regular timber cladding. While their larger sizes make for great multipurpose storage, many of our cabin sheds are also well suited for use as a DIY or workshop space.
Every single BillyOh branded building has been designed in-house and self-manufactured by us using sustainably sourced timber. We offer delivery across the UK - with no charge on delivery to most postcodes in England and Wales.

What is a Log Cabin Shed?
In simple terms, these buildings utilise the building structure of a log cabin but in the format of a shed. This means that the building is designed to be used in the same way a shed is, for instance as a storage space or as a workshop environment for DIY or crafts.
There is a difference in price between a cabin shed and a regular shed. Our cabin-style buildings are more expensive, which stems primarily from the cladding which is bigger and stronger. As a tradeoff, the building is structurally stronger and has a cleaner, log-style look with the typical notched edges.
What Type of Cladding Do These Buildings Use?
We use a special type of tongue and groove log cladding for our cabins. This cladding provides a tight exterior seal, great structural stability and support, as well as a clean log-style finish.
This notched-style cladding interlocks at the edges, creating the typical crossed edges you see on rustic cabins. The cladding is also manufactured with a tongue and groove connection - a tongue at the top of the panel that locks into the groove of the panel below. This connects each panel both above and below with an airtight seal that prevents moisture ingress, protecting the joints without the need for screws or bolts on each layer.
This cladding style is also used for the flooring and roof of these shed cabins, with some models available with the option of either 19mm or 28mm wall cladding.
How Can I Use a Log Cabin Shed?
The robust nature of these buildings makes them capable of use for a selection of different shed-style uses. They’re extremely well-suited for use as storage, especially for large or heavy-duty items. Bicycles, BBQs, or large pieces of equipment such as lawnmowers and strimmers are all easily accommodated.
They’re just as capable as used as a garden workshop due to their heavy-duty build, which can accommodate the vibration and noise generated by heavy machinery and tools.
What Other Features Do You Offer?
A Protective Guarantee
Every single BillyOh building with tongue and groove cladding, including all our cabin sheds, comes with a 10-year protective guarantee against the primary forms of timber damage - rot, decay, and insect infestation. This guarantee ensures that you have a building that will remain strong and useful for a decade
Timber Pressure Treatment
Pressure treatment is a form of wood treatment that is more comprehensive and longer-lasting than dip or oil-based treatments. In this treatment type, the timber is closed into a large, pressurised tank and injected with chemical preservatives. The pressure forces the preservatives deep into the wood and, as a result, the timber stays stronger and repels moisture for longer.
Any pressure-treated building comes with an enhanced guarantee of 15 years of protection. You can still choose to treat your log cabin shed with a wood preserver or treatment like Protek royal exterior or quality waterproofing paint.
A Choice of Roof Styles
Our log cabin sheds and workshops also feature choices from pent and apex to reverse apex roofs. An apex roof has its highest point in the middle, with triangle-shaped gables to support the structure. Apex or reverse apex roofing is the more traditional style seen in garden buildings and housing. A pent roof, meanwhile, slopes only to one side - thereby funnelling the drainage to one side in particular - creating a more modern silhouette.
Can I Assemble My Building Myself?
We don't offer installation services because our BillyOh buildings are designed to be simple and easy to put together. Measured and pre-cut by our experts, your log cabin shed can be easily assembled in a matter of hours with some basic tools and a friend. For building installation, we do recommend a solid base, though. So whether you opt for a timber sub-floor, gravel, or a concrete base, we advise that you have your base ready for delivery.
Does My Building Require Planning Permission?
Your building shouldn't require planning permission so long as:
- The ridge height doesn't exceed 4m.
- The eaves heights don't exceed 2.5m.
- It isn't larger than 50% of your garden.
- It isn't built past the front wall of your house.
That's why our BillyOh buildings are built with these height restrictions in mind. So pick up an outdoor building today!
