From 19mm as standard to 28 and even 44mm-thick cladding, you can find the level of insulation that suits you best. No matter which option you choose, you can be comfortable in the knowledge that our high-quality European sourced timber and tongue and groove construction will give you a tight and weather-resistant seal. That’s why our BillyOh buildings come with a 10-year guarantee against rot, decay, and insect infestation.
If you’re looking to use your garden cabin only in the summer months or in the daytime, 19mm cladding will be sufficient. However, if you plan on using your garden log cabin throughout the year and into the evening, 28mm would be ideal. Lastly, if you want to use your log cabin for overnight use and to be snug no matter what time of day or the weather outside, a log cabin with 44mm cladding offers the best level of insulation.
This is especially useful, if not necessary if you live in an area with harsher weather and climate conditions. But don’t worry, thicker cladding doesn’t mean you’ll be too hot in the summertime. The more comprehensive your cabin cladding option, the better it will be at regulating temperatures. That means keep it warm in winter and cool in summer.

Design
Here at Garden Buildings Direct, our log cabins feature wide-opening windows and glass double doors on many of our models. But we also have solid doors options depending on whether you want a workshop or a cosy cabin. We also featured a range of log cabins with varying roof styles. Roof
For our roof construction, we use 11mm interlocking tongue & groove boards as standard with roofing felt included to offer excellent runoff as well as a tight seal against water ingress.

Planning Permission
Our log cabin kits are designed to be planning friendly and shouldn't require planning permission, so long as they aren't:
- Intended for permanent use as residential log cabins.
- Larger than 50% of your garden.
- Built past the front wall of your house.
- Higher at the ridge height than 4m.
- Higher at the eaves height than 2.5m.
As such, your cabin house should fall under 'permitted development' and not require planning regulations. As for building your log cabin - assembly couldn't be easier.
